Live: The 96th Annual Academy Awards

It’s Hollywood’s biggest day, as the 96th Annual Academy Awards kick off.

Sir Peter Jackson was thanked from stage by the winners for the Best Animated Short, War Is Over, which was produced with help from Wēta FX and Sir Peter.

“Peter Jackson – thank you so much. This film would not have happened without you,” says one of the winners.

Christopher Nolan’s epic three-hour biography of the mastermind of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, leads the nominations and has been picked to take home the Best Picture honour, but there’s always a few surprises on Oscar night as well.
