Police search underway after ram raiders hit Papatoetoe jeweller

Thieves carried out a smash and grab robbery at an Auckland jewellery store this afternoon.

Police were called to Sona Sansaar on East Tamaki Road in Papatoetoe just after 4pm this afternoon, after robbers broke into cabinets and stole items.

Three staff were in the store at the time, but no customers.

Police say they were unharmed but are shaken.

The offenders have left the scene with a number of items and police are making enquiries to locate them.

There is a significant police presence in the area while as this work continues.
