Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is speaking to reporters in Manila after pledging greater defence cooperation with the Philippines.

He has been barrelling through a business-heavy programme, attending a series of functions in the city, on the final day of his tour of Southeast Asia after his meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr the previous day.

The week-long trip was aimed at boosting trade and tourism from Southeast Asia, with other stops in Singapore and Thailand.

Luxon returns to New Zealand on Sunday morning.
