Reporters and economists are poring over the coalition government’s first Budget since taking power before the details are made public at 2pm.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has sought to temper expectations, saying there will be no frills and no surprises at his first Budget on Thursday.

Interest will keenly focus on the make-up of promised tax cuts.

National campaigned on a multi-faceted package – dubbed the Back Pocket Boost – but today’s will look different due to last year’s coalition negotiations.

Just how different, though, remains unclear.
