One dead after crash in Canterbury

A person has died after a single-vehicle crash in Canterbury on Friday evening.

The crash, on Old West Coast Road at the Redmonds Road intersection in Darfield, was reported to police at about 5pm.

Two people were in the vehicle at the time, police said.

One died at the scene and the other was transported to hospital with moderate injuries.

The road has reopened and an investigation into the crash launched.
