Watch live: Police give update after Gisborne brawl left two dead

Detective Inspector Dave de Lange is expected to give an update on a double homicide investigation after a massive brawl on Sunday.

The mass brawl that involved 100 people started after two univited guests arrived at a 21st birthday party.

Two people died in the brawl and three were critically injured.

A Gisborne man, 29, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody.

Police Minister Mark Mitchell, who travelled to Gisborne to provide support for police and the local community, and Gisborne Mayor Rehette Stoltz said the community was safe despite the tragedy.
